Description
Shimadzu DUH-211 and DUH-211S dynamic ultra-micro hardness testers are designed to characterize thin coatings, surface layers, and small specimens by instrumented indentation. The instruments record the relationship between applied force and indenter penetration depth, allowing evaluation of dynamic hardness, Martens hardness, indentation modulus, and other material parameters according to the applicable procedure, including ISO 14577-1.
An electromagnetic loading mechanism applies test forces from 0.1 to 1,961 mN. Indentation depth is measured over 0–10 µm with a minimum increment of 0.0001 µm. A 115° triangular pyramidal indenter is standard; dedicated Vickers and Knoop indenters are available as options for the respective hardness measurements.
Features
- DUH-211: three modes — load–hold, load–unload, and cyclic testing.
- DUH-211S: seven modes, additionally supporting depth-controlled and step-loading tests.
- Force–indentation depth curves for examining elastic and plastic deformation response.
- Optical microscope with ×500 total magnification for specimen positioning and indent observation.
- Suitable for thin films, semiconductor structures, fibers, metallic surface layers, polymers, ceramics, and glass.
