Description
The TOC-L series of analyzers implements the thermocatalytic oxidation method developed by Shimadzu at 680 ℃. Unlike catalytic systems operating at 900 ℃, oxidation at 680 ℃ prevents the formation of glass-like salt deposits on the catalyst surface. Under these conditions, salts form a porous precipitate that is easily washed away, ensuring long catalyst and reactor tube life.
This temperature is sufficient to fully oxidize any organic molecules, enabling quick and precise determination of the total organic carbon content in water over a wide concentration range — from 4 µg/L to 30 000 mg/L.
Thus, the TOC-L series analyzers allow efficient analysis of samples with varying levels of contamination — from ultrapure water and wash solutions from equipment cleaning to wastewater heavily polluted with organic compounds.
